Register Now for Adapted Aquatics at Chapel Hill Parks & Rec!

Do you want your child with autism or other special needs to learn swimming and to enjoy being in the water? Then this class is for you! Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation Adapted Recreation & Inclusion Program is offering Parent-Child Adapted Aquatics for Fall 2014. The program teaches parents/caregivers fun ways to assist young children with special needs in the water. Class sizes are small, and focus on swimming stroke development, water games, and water exercises.

Classes are held at the Homestead Aquatic Center in Chapel Hill. Registration is only $22 (Chapel Hill/Orange County residents) or $25 (non-residents). Fall 2014 Adapted Aquatics starts this Saturday, October 4th, so sign up now!  For more details, download the flier or contact Marian Kaslovsky at mkaslovsky@townofchapelhill.org or (919) 968-2813.

Speaking of Adapted Aquatics, photographer Barbara Tyroler will be showing her incredible photographs of swimmers from the program at the FRANK Gallery in Chapel Hill in October. It will be the Autism Society of NC Orange Chatham October chapter meeting - more details to come soon. Her photographs of swimmers with autism are truly stunning - I had the opportunity to see the photos at the ASNCOC Autism Awareness Celebration in April, and you won't want to miss the chance to see them!
