January Autism Society of NC Orange Chatham Events: Coffee and Camp Fair!

It has been a crazy January around here getting ready for our son's annual IEP meeting (it's today!), but I wanted to be sure to share with you this month's ASNCOC events, because they are good ones.

First up is the monthly coffee gathering:

When: Friday, January 17th from 10 - 11am

Where: Caribou Coffee on the corner of Franklin & Estes Streets, Chapel Hill

What: Join us in the back meeting room for coffee and casual conversation. The coffee gatherings are a great chance to meet parents, grandparents, and others who care about someone on the autism spectrum. We look forward to seeing new faces and old friends!

Next week is one of the biggest ASNCOC chapter meetings of the year: the Summer Options Fair! Don't miss it - this is the perfect opportunity to meet with representatives from autism-friendly summer camps and programs from around the area. There will be several programs for young adults, in addition to those for kids. Take a look at last year's Summer Options Fair participants to get an idea of what to expect (there may be some variations on who attends this year).

2014 Special Needs Summer Options Fair For Youth with Developmental Disabilities:

Learn about local programs that provide inclusion support as well as those
specialized just for people with Developmental Disabilities.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

7:00 - 8:30 pm

Extraordinary Ventures, 200 S. Elliott Rd, Chapel Hill

Information about these groups and more will be available:

A representative from First In Families of North Carolina will be on hand to discuss financial assistance options for summer programs. Childcare will also be available, courtesy of the wonderful volunteers from UNC's Autism Outreach. Please R.s.v.p. to asncoc@gmail.com with the ages of your children if you would like childcare. Over the years our son has had great experiences at some of these camps, so I am excited to start working on our summer plans too!

Hope to see lots of you at these two great events. Wish us luck at our IEP meeting today!
