First in Families Looking for Management Team Volunteers

The Central Carolina chapter of First in Families is seeking volunteers to serve on our Management Team! First in Families serves individuals with developmental disabilities (including autism, cerebral palsy, and Down's Syndrome, to name a few) or traumatic brain injuries and their families in North Carolina; the Central Carolina chapter specifically works with families in Orange, Chatham, and Person counties. FIF helps people in a number of ways, including direct support in the form of grants, the Lifetime Connections program, future planning support for parents, and a time bank.

The Management Team meets about once every other month, and helps plan chapter activities including fundraising, event planning, public awareness, committees, and policies. Anyone with an interest in helping individuals with developmental disabilities is welcome to serve on the Management Team, including self advocates and family members of those with developmental disabilities. It is not necessary to have a family member with a disability to volunteer; we are actively seeking representation from the local business, university, and faith-based communities as well.

If you or someone you know might be interested in joining the Central Carolina First in Families Management Team, you are welcome to attend a Management Team meeting to learn more. Please email me (Bridget) for more information at beanniferj (at) yahoo (dot) com. And spread the word among your family and friends about First in Families!
