Spring TEACCH Training Sessions

TEACCH has some interesting training sessions coming up this spring. On April 27, 2012, they are doing a one day workshop for parents about Preparing for Kindergarten in a Regular Education Setting. Should be great for anyone with a preschooler.

On May 4, 2012 is the Structured Teaching Boot Camp. I attended that training last year, and it literally changed our lives overnight. The day long workshop covers the fundamentals of the TEACCH approach to structured teaching, use of visuals, schedules, and a make-it take-it project. You will want to buy a laminator after this workshop!

Then on May 31 - June 1, 2012 is the 33rd TEACCH Annual Conference. The theme of this year's conference is "Autism Spectrum Disorders Across the Lifespan". Dr. Jed Baker, who writes about social skills and behavior, will be one of the featured speakers.

These trainings will be held at various locations around the Triangle. Visit the TEACCH Trainings website for details on locations, registration, and cost. While support groups and individual sessions are reserved for TEACCH families, these trainings are open to all, so they present a great opportunity to learn more about ASD.
