ASNCOC March Chapter Meeting: Social Thinking in School

The March chapter meeting of ASNCOC will have a great topic: Social Thinking in School. The speakers this month are Ginny Thompson, SLP and Kristan Shimpi, Ph.D. presenting "Teach Social First; Proactive Classroom Management: Creative Strategies to Teach Students to Think About Others". Social Thinking is always an important topic, and I have no doubt that the presentation will be just as interesting for parents as for educators. I once attended a fantastic presentation about Social Skills in School presented by Kathleen Dolbee (who will be speaking at the ASNC conference later this month), and her tips were definitely applicable to working my son at home and in the community as well as in the classroom.

The ASNCOC March chapter meeting will be on Tuesday, March 27th from 7-9pm. It is taking place at Extraordinary Ventures at 200 S. Elliott Road in Chapel Hill. Free childcare will be provided by the wonderful volunteers from UNC Autism Outreach - please R.s.v.p. to amybf3@hotmail.com if you need childcare so enough people will be on hand.

Everyone is welcome at the ASNCOC chapter meetings; it is not necessary to be a member. They are always fascinating, so mark your calendar!
