Support Autism Insurance Reform in North Carolina!

There are currently bills (House Bill 826 and Senate Bill 115) before the North Carolina General Assembly that would end discrimination against people with autism by health insurance companies. The bill was sponsored by ASNC, Autism Speaks, and other autism advocates and legislators. Called The Coverage For Treatment of Autism Disorders bill, the law would require insurance companies to cover autism coverage in NC. Of course there are plenty of loopholes, but as written now, the bills are very strong and deserve our support. 29 other states have already enacted similar laws, including Virginia and South Carolina, so there is really no excuse for North Carolina to be so far behind. You can show your support by contacting your State Senator and State Representative (find them here) to ask them to vote for the autism insurance bills. There is also a handy link to a form on the Autism Speaks website to quickly email your General Assembly members. Please take a minute to do it today!
